Coach Ron Miller, Ph.D., M.d’A. Passes Away

Coach Ron Miller, Ph.D., M.d’A., retired head varsity fencing coach of the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill, NC, quietly ended his journey of this life at his home, surrounded by his family. He was a bright light whose memory we will hold in our hearts forever.

He was Coach Gerhard’s collegiate and only coach. He was instrumental in the creation and growth of the All-American Fencing Academy. When Coach Gerhard started a club in Fayetteville, it began as the Cumberland County Fencing Club and was a satellite of the North Carolina Fencing Development Program (NCFDP, headquartered at Chapel Hill, NC). The NCFDP is the fencing club that Coach Ron Miller created at UNC.
