Great Tournament and Great Fundraiser!
First, great job by everyone today, from our first time competitors to our veterans! All fencers did things I loved seeing and there will be new things we will work on.
Also congrats to our new referees, Isabella and Mesha who cut their teeth at their first tournament!

Lastly, we raised $1350. That was more than we hoped for thank you to ALL our supporters that came to the competition and to everyone that donated. We are truly gracious for your support for our program. Although we have plenty of equipment purchases throughout the year, our largest expense are our blades. A single FIE Foil blade is $159, and a single FIE Epee blade is $195. We anticipate that we’ll be able to purchase 4 foil and 4 epee blades. The foil blades will be backup blades for any blades that break this season, and the epee blades will replace 3 unused practice blades.
To put it in perspective on how much we’ve grown and the need for weapons, the entirety of our epee armory (blades and body cords) were being used today, and thankfully no weapon malfunctions. Nearly all our youth fencers utilized club competition gear and about half of our teen/adult foil competitors used our club competition gear.
As we continue the competitive season, our regular club competitors (youth, teens, and adults) and homeschool team, will utilize the same equipment. Very few club provide competitive equipment use at no cost. Eventually, of course, you see that some of our regular competitors own their own pratice and competition equipment, as you continue to fenced and compete at competitions on your own, you may want to look at purchasing your own equipment. When you decide to cross that bridge, make sure you let us know so we can help you get all the correct equipment!
We look forward to our next competition, and we hope to see you there again!
