OS/AH Series: August 2020, 1st Week, Class, and Updates!
Sorry I’m late this week. It’s been a busy week. I’ve added more time available for private lessons, 3 days a week. So if you would like to take private lessons, there are never more than 5-6 fencers in the fencing club at any time. Also, if you would like to take lessons, but spaces are full, let me know and I might can move some people around.
I would have been able to get the video out on Wednesday, but the video compilation failed on me, so I wasn’t able to upload it until Wednesday night.
Here are the important updates:
North Carolina has extended Phase 2 for another 5 weeks
For better or worse, North Carolina has extended Phase 2 for another 5 weeks. Which means, we can’t open classes again until possibly September. Numbers NEED to come down…we NEED to wear masks, we NEED to social distance. But at the same time, this frustrates me as a business owner and a teacher because I care about what I do and being able to teach everyone.
SO I THANK YOU!
I cannot express how much I appreciate and grateful for everyone’s support. I want everyone to be able to benefit from our program and I wish I can do more. So THANK YOU! I truly miss working with everyone. Again, if you have any requests for me to do videos of, please let me know.
RENEW YOUR USA FENCING MEMBERSHIP!
It’s that time of year again, but please remember to renew your membership, or if you are new, make sure you join the USA Fencing. This is required for all students of any fencing club. It keeps us in good standing an required for our insurance policies.
Renew at: https://member.usafencing.org/
Membership options:
Non-Competitive membership: This probably what most people should do…because honestly, who knows when we can do a competition any time soon, whether in state or out of state. I wouldn’t even recommend going out of state to compete yet. The Non-Competitive fee will remain at the 2019-20 price of $10 and includes a new added benefit: Starting with the 2020-21 season, Non-Competitive members will have the opportunity to fence in one local tournament without having to upgrade to a Competitive membership. This new benefit is automatically available to you when you join or renew as a Non-Competitive member.
Competitive membership: I did this for Isabelle, Gabe, and myself because I’m also trying to support our National fencing association. They’re taking quite a hit as well because they have also lot members, and not able to host national events. So it’s up to you if you want to do competitive, remember, you can always start with non-competitive and if you do only 1 sanctioned event, you’re good! You can always upgrade mid-year if you end up doing another sanctioned event.
For our renewing members, USA Fencing is offering the 2019-20 fee of $75 when you renew your membership before September 30. This is open to all current members and you do not need to have held a Competitive membership in 2019-20. For those seeking a new Competitive membership, the fee for the 2020-21 season is $85.
So, that’s a lot to unpack. I hope everyone is healthy and safe, here is this week’s class!
