Weekend Tournament Review
It was a great weekend to start competitions! It wasn’t too hot and we saw a lot of new competitors!
Congrats to Daniel for taking first in the youth. Also congrats to Isabelle who tied for 3rd place! Also tied for 3rd place was Jeremy Taylor who fenced in his first competition after starting fencing about 2 months ago!
In the Senior event, Isabelle took 1st with a close bout against Colton who took 2nd. Other notables were Alexander and Zion who tied for third.
We saw some great things over the weekend and gave the coaches some ideas of what we need to work on! We were happy to see our fencers using the things we work on in class!
For those that also compete outside of our club, this was a good pre-season set up to this weekend’s tournament at Durham! If you actively compete, please look into the Big Blue Open at Forge Fencing Academy at Durham, Isabelle and Gabe are planning to compete. If you are planning on going and don’t have your own equipment, make sure you let Coach Gerhard know before Thursday.
Our next event will be only for the seniors (teen/adult) on September 10th. It will be a split men’s foil and women’s foil event. No youth events in September. This is another great beginner event for new students, especially our womens fencers! Register here: https://askfred.net/Events/whoIsComing.php?tournament_id=50896
Youth fencers, if you want to look ahead, our next youth event will still be at home on October 8, 2022. You can start to register here: https://askfred.net/Events/whoIsComing.php?tournament_id=50895
