Updates: Masks, Results, Tournaments and Thanksgiving Schedule

Fayetteville Rescinds Mask Mandates
On November 1, 2021, Fayetteville rescinded city mask mandates. Masks will no longer be required at the All-American Fencing Academy. Students and families are still welcome to do so. We also encourage vaccinations fencers and family members that can receive it as well as masks for families and fencers with or living with underlying medical conditions. Again, if you are feeling sick, please stay home. I’d like to thank you all for remaining diligent about staying home when you are feeling sick. Everyone’s consideration for others have helped us remain as safe as we possibly can at the Academy.

Update/Clarification: I have been advised that although Fayetteville has rescinded their mask order, Cumberland County’s Abatement Order remains in place: Masks are required indoors across Cumberland County, including all municipalities – Fayetteville, Hope Mills, Spring Lake, Wade, Eastover, Godwin, Linden and Stedman. The All-American Fencing Academy will continue the mask policy. Regardless, thank you everyone for doing everything you can to keep up safe, including staying home when you are unwell, masking, and vaccinating. Hopefully, Cumberland County continues to decrease it’s positive infection rate and we can get to below 11%.

October Tournament Results
Sorry I’m a little late on the October results announcements. But congrats to our finalists! In the men’s foil, Bruce was home from college and took 1st. Jack Didesch took second. Jack Tart in his first tournament since his return, ties for 3rd with team captain Seth Hopel, also tied for 3rd. In the women’s foil, Isabelle took first and Gianna took her highest placement yet at 2nd, while Elinor and Reagan tied for 3rd.

Upcoming Tournaments
We didn’t have a youth tournament in October, so I wanted to squeeze in a Youth Tournament in November. We won’t have much time for a tournaments in December.

Our youth tournament registration will open up this week, if we can get at least 5 youth participating, we’ll host the tournament. But if we don’t get at least 5 registered by November 7th, we’ll cancel it.

Since we aren’t doing a teen/adult event in November, there is a SANCTIONED tournament at Apex Fencing Academy on November 13-14, if anyone is interested.
