Renew Your USA Fencing Membership and Updates
Hope everyone is having a great summer! As you can see, we have a lot of new friends that have joined us from summer camp!
Here are a few updates, but the first one is the important one.
RENEW YOUR USA Fencing Membership!
All our students/fencers must be members of USA Fencing, so it’s that time of the year to renew your USA Fencing Membership! This is a requirement for the All-American Fencing Academy as a USA Fencing Member Club.
Start the membership renewal here: https://www.usafencing.org/page/show/698114-individual-memberships
**NOTE: If you became a new USA Fencing Member after March 31, 2022, you DO NOT have to renew your USA Fencing Membership. Your membership is valid until July 31, 2023.
When you renew your USA Fencing Membership, be sure to renew as an Access Member ($25). If you know you plan on participating in Regional or National events (very few of us), make sure you renew your Competitive Membership.
NO CLASS THURSDAY, JULY 28, 2022
There will be no class on Thursday, July 28, 2022. Coach will be out of town!
Other news:
All Teens and Adults, don’t forget that Thursdays evenings are open to open fencing. All fencers are welcome to come in and just fence, hang out with friends, and get extra practice in! Especially as we enter competition season, for fencers that like to compete, you get a lot of experience during open fencing in addition to what you learn in class! It’s also a more relaxed atmosphere and not a class setting. Youth fencers are invited to come out to Thursday as well.
I’m tentatively planning on hosting a youth scrimmage right before school starts, probably August 20, 2022. Several of our kids have done competitions before, and I’d like to give many of our new students the opportunity to experience a competition with their peers.
I am still planning our local tournament calendar which will include youth, teen, and adult events. All of our fencers are encouraged to participate in our home events! However, Forge Fencing Academy in Durham, NC has already announced an August 27/28 tournament. Events include Y12 Mixed Foil (born between 2010-2013), Senior Events (born 2009 or earlier): Women’s Foil, Men’s Foil, Men’s Epee. You can pre-register here: https://askfred.net/Events/whoIsComing.php?tournament_id=50673
Lastly, USA Fencing National Championships is happening this week in Minneapolis, if you’d like to see some of the finals, USA Fencing is streaming live events, you can watch some of the previous events on their channel on YouTube. We might recommend these:
