Results and Tournament Updates
First, sorry for the late update after the tournament over the weekend. But it was a great weekend and a little cooler! Thank you to our volunteers (Sandra Walker and Kayla Spell) that helped run the tournament smooth and also thank you to our new referees (Lily Kube and Isaac Canady). They did an awesome job and look forward to having them referee our little kids events more!
We didn’t have enough elementary schools fencers this time around since our other partner clubs were still in the midst of coming back from the summer. So we had our 2 elementary school fencers fence in the middle school event. This first event was a pre-season scrimmage since I scheduled this event too early and the other teams hadn’t had an opportunity to recruit for their competitors. Points for the Pisacafe will start next tournament.
Of the elementary school fencers, congrats to Olivia McKinney taking 1st and Maddox Sital taking 2nd. In the middle school fencers, Avery Chapman took 1st, Isabella Lee, once again placing in the top 3, took 2nd, and Walter Davis from Cape Fear Fencing Association tied for 3rd with Scott McRae.
We had a strong showing of homeschool fencers from All-American and Cape Fear. Isaac Canady took first, Thomas Knosky from Cape Fear took second, and Colton Culliton (special guest 🙂 ) and Aiden Yandle tied for third. The remaining varsity team members, Zion Facey took 5th and Lily Kube took 7th. Also we have a new homeschool fencer fencing in the junior varsity team, Mesha Green who took 10th place.
