On Strip/At Home Mini Training: Improve Your Lunges
We hope everyone is staying safe and healthy. The CDC does recommend wearing masks now when you’re out, so make sure you’re wearing masks if you do have to go out. Also, the fencing mask is not a reasonable mask to use. 🙂
Here’s this week’s On Strip/At Home mini training. Not like a craft that I’ve been posting but something that you hopefully have at home to help your training. All you need this time is an index card. If you can’t find an index card, some reasonable substitutes can be a playing card, business card, a quarter, or rip a small piece of paper.

Also, I’ve put together some videos of all the footwork that we do in class. As I’ve mentioned before, footwork is something you can do each day. A good practice might be to take three pieces of footwork that include forward and backward movement, and end with an attack.
Footwork Movement Options:
- Advance/2 advances/double advance
- Retreat/2 retreats/ double retreat
- Appel
- Crossover forward/backward
- Jump forward
- Check
- Slide
Attack Options
- Lunge
- Balestra
- Patinando
- Fleche
- Redouble
If you need a review for any of the footwork, I’ve recorded videos for all the footwork pieces: https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLzRoSLhb3uVcXVhHCHRCPdFnNL7lrw9Rd
